Our Awards

Villa's landscape architects and designers are among the best in the business—and they’ve got the awards to prove it. The Villa team has received eight national and regional landscape design awards in the past four years, including first-place honors from the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute in 2007. Isn't it time you have an award-winning Villa landscape for yourself?

Jim Christensen, Merit Award, Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association, 2005
Christensen increased space utilization on a small city lot by incorporating numerous hardscape elements along with decking, a fire pit, gazebo and garden features with amenities. The design incorporated tiered planters overflowing with lush vegetation and seat-height freestanding VERSA-LOK retaining walls.

Award of Honor, National Concrete Masonry Association, 2005
Villa Landscapes transformed a rambler’s small and mundane concrete-slab front stoop into a sweeping paver patio and pergola-covered entryway supported by VERSA-LOK segmental retaining walls and columns. The charcoal blend seat-walls and matching Willow Creek paving stones, coupled with the white pergola, are the perfect complement to the home.

Andy Lofboom, Merit Award, Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association, 2005
Stunning multilevel cooking and entertainment spaces are tied together with tiered gardens. To connect the upper patio with the backyard, a series of four stair landings were built, flanked on either side by garden boxes and accented with columns. The project featured VERSA-LOK retaining walls and Willow Creek concrete paving stones exclusively.

Merit Award, Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association, 2004
The main purpose of the design was to create an entry courtyard for a townhome that would serve as both circulation and gathering space. The renovation included natural lannon stone paving, Willow Creek pavers, VERSA-LOK retaining walls and several plantings to augment the hardscape elements.

Jim Christensen, Merit Award, Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association, 2004
The colors, textures, and patterns of pavers visually calm the area and spatially enlarge the recreation and entertainment spaces. The client selected a gray-black blended paver color to harmonize with granite-gray VERSA-LOK retaining walls, planters, benches and columns. Bedford natural stone column caps completed the color coordination.

Merit Award, Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association, 2004
VERSA-LOK retaining walls and steps separate the patio area from the kidney-shaped swimming pool in this small backyard. The owners selected a pool deck and patio area with stamped and colored concrete that complements the colors of the adjacent hardscape materials.

Angie’s List Super Service Award, 2005
Villa has been selected to receive the Angie’s Award again! The Super Service Award is given annually to companies that achieved and maintained a superior service rating on Angie’s List throughout the year. Fewer than 5 percent of the more than 145,000 companies on Angie's List qualify for the Super Service Award.

First Place, ICPI, 2007
Jim Christensen, First Place, Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute, 2007. A large paver patio featuring a pair of circular patios anchors the lower level of this complex. The lower patio area is connected to a massive three-tiered series of gardens filled with colorful plantings and bisected by offset stairs that weave between them with landings at every level. The project features VERSA-LOK retaining walls and Willow Creek paving stones.

Angie’s List Super Service Award, 2006
